I acquired this moss some times back when I visited a plant farm in Singapore. It was labelled as Mini Taiwan Moss. Initially, I thought that it was just another fanciful name given by the farm for the normal Taiwan Moss, Taxiphyllum alternans. The 'fronds' of this moss is relatively smaller than Taiwan Moss - Taxiphyllum alternans, and I thought that it was due to different growing condition in the farm that grew the Mini Taiwan Moss. However, I was in for a big surprise when I send this plant to Dr Tan for identification. It does not belong to the genus Taxiphyllum, but in another genus, Isopterygium. According to Dr Tan, Isopterygium species is not aquatic in nature. However, I have been growing this moss for more than 6 months under submersed condition and it's still growing well. The above microscope pictures show the cell structures of the Mini Taiwan Moss - Isopterygium sp.
